Try to be alive.

Saturday, 11 January 2014

Try to learn to breathe deeply, really to taste food when you eat, and when you sleep, really to sleep. Try as much as possible to be wholly alive with all your might, and when you laugh, laugh like hell. And when you get angry, get good and angry. Try to be alive. You will be dead soon enough.

I like this quote a lot, probably because I'm bad at doing these things, but aspire to be good. I'm not very good at being in the moment, at being mindful, but I'm working on it. I spoke about this before, and will probably speak about it again, about the need to not get distracted so much by completely insignificant things, and by that I don't mean little things, because they are sometimes worth being distracted by, but I mean the unnecessary things that just clutter up your day. I want to start doing the things I'm doing more properly, even when it's just something very mundane, like chopping vegetables or walking to the train station, all moments are worth being in them properly. I want to read again without giving in to checking my phone again, or the suddenly obviously very urgent need to moisturise my legs, but just read, so I can get sucked in by the story as much as I used to, you know?

Time moves so fast without wasting it by having your mind all over the place, so I'm truly trying to make being mindful one of my priorities, starting now.

Day 11

I met the beautiful Louise from Beside the Danube for Brunch at Granger & Co today. I'm so glad we finally made it happen, because it was so lovely to meet her in person. Unfortunately as we all know I'm a bad blogger and actually forgot to take photos during our brunch, but I did take some photos around Notting Hill today, so here's my photo for Day 11. On time for once :) Oh and just in case you haven't checked out Louise's blog already, I definitely advise you to do so, she has the most beautiful writing style and stunning photos too. I hope you're all having a lovely weekend, I'm being a rockstar and spending it in bed with my good friend Mr. Netflix.

Day 4-10 cheatery

Friday, 10 January 2014

I haven't been very good already, which is mainly because it's so dark when I get back from work and there's not very many interesting things to take photos of here indoors. I know that's kind of the whole idea, and in that sense it is working, because I do look out more for things I think would make for a nice photo, but unfortunately I don't have my good camera with me at work. Anyway, today was a lovely day, so I cheated and took 7 photos at once and with my phone, so apologies, but here it goes.

Day 3

Saturday, 4 January 2014

So I kind of missed the couple of hours of light today again. Well I didn't actually miss them, but I was busy eating all the waffles and drinking all the milkshakes at the waffle house. See drooling inducing photos here. Apart from that I also kept myself very busy watching some of the new season of Modern Family, this series is just the best thing ever isn't it? So yes, living the hard live at the moment, waffles and hilarious TV. The photo of course is completely unrelated, but you know, just trying to at least take some sort of photo at the moment. Again, I'm not happy with the photo at all, but I guess I have to just keep trying to take photos if I actually want to get to know my camera, so here it goes. Also if I post the bad ones, it'll feel more like an accomplishment, when they get better, right?

I hope you're all having a nice weekend :)

Day 2

Friday, 3 January 2014

Ok, so I said I'd explain and here goes. As you might have seen I started with day 1 on the 2nd of January, slightly odd. But there's reason behind it, kind of. So I decided to do a 365 photo project, which in theory should be a photo a day for a year. However, my main resolution is actually to stress and worry less, meaning that if I do a project that will stress me a lot, it would be a little counter-productive. So, I decided to do this project and try to make the time to get my camera out as often as I can, but in an encouraging kind of way not in a another thing to cross of the to do list kind of way. Does this make sense? Probably not.
So on the first I was actually too busy spending the last day in Germany with my family and I just didn't feel like it, because I was very sad. Today, I didn't manage to take a very good photo, it's out of focus and I'm not particularly happy with the colours either, but I just inherited this really cool DSLR for Christmas and I'm not very good at it yet, but it's all about the journey, right? So fingers crossed in about a years time or maybe a lot later you'll see some good improvements, there'll also be summertime in between which means it should get slightly better just because of the light.

So yes, I think resolutions are about making changes, whenever, whether that's on the first of January or the 13th of April. You could even make one on the 27th of June, which I'd recommend because it's my mum's birthday. The main thing is that something actually changes, it's not about doing it every single day, but about doing it overall, to me anyway. I guess different things work for different people and I appreciate that.

I also considered starting a 750words project, because I think that sounds supercool too, and I might still start, but right now I'm 1) not sure how secure that website is (so I would probably just do it on my macbook) and 2) it feels too big for me right now, but then again, it should be a real challenge, right?

Have you ever thought about doing a daily project? I'm quite exited about this, but I think it will be quite difficult to dedicate enough time for it and at the same timenot be too hard on myself when I don't manage to accomplish what I set out to.

Anyway, I'll keep you updated :) Happy January!!

Day 1

Thursday, 2 January 2014

I'm starting a photo project, and starting on the second day of the year. Pretty lame for a new years thing hej? But I'll explain soon I promise, there is a reason for why it's starting late.

Anyway, here's the first photo. It's of my favourite boy in the world playing with his cards ❤
